At about 6:57 a.m. Monday, April 11, a Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant encountered a vehicle that had ran into a District 742 school bus. The school bus driven by Everett Burris, 51, St. Cloud, was traveling westbound on County Road 75 and came to a stop at a red light at 28th Avenue South in the city of Waite Park. A 2006 Kia Sedona driven by Jaret Johnson, 21, of Morris, was traveling behind the school bus when it ran into the back of the stopped bus. Johnson stated he did not see the school bus stopping at the red light.
There were two juvenile passengers on the bus at the time of the crash. There were no reported injuries to any of the parties involved. Johnson was issued a citation for inattentive driving.
