St. Cloud State University musicians are putting on a “Halloween Spooktacular” for the St. Cloud area with a musical concert, Halloween activities, and musical instrument demonstrations Thursday, Oct. 25, in Ritsche Auditorium in Stewart Hall.
At 5:30 p.m. children in costume and their families are invited to pre-concert activities in the lobby of Ritsche Auditorium where volunteers will be on hand to demonstrate musical instruments, distribute Halloween treats, and play games.
The concert by the Wind Ensemble begins 6:30 p.m. The 30-minute concert will include both fun and spooky music such as “The Quest for Davy Jones’ Locker” by Minnesota composer Tim Smith, and music from beloved Disney movies. The concert will include a kids’ costume parade with free giveaways, a candy corn counting contest, and children’s stories and rhymes.
Admission to both the concert and pre-concert activities is free.
The St. Cloud State Wind Ensemble is a select group of 40 performers, mostly St. Cloud State University music majors led by conductor Catharine Bushman.
Parking is available on campus in the 4th Street parking ramp, 516 4th Ave. S., for $1.50 per hour. Ritsche Auditorium is a short walk east from the ramp behind the Atwood Memorial Center.
