Once again, the Mississippi River Creative Writing workshop in poetry and fiction, to be held 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily May 24-28, has attracted some well-known writers and poets. The one-week workshop, which can be taken for credit, is open to the public as space allows. The cost is $313. In addition to presentations, the writers make themselves available for discussion and interaction, and share personal stories about how they came to be writers. Notables who have agreed to participate in the event are Jonis Agee, Michael Dennis Browne, Heid Erdich, Shannon Olson, Alexs Pate and Brent Spencer. Facilitator will be Bill Meissner, director of creative writing at SCSU. He is an award-winning author of three books of poetry and a nationally-acclaimed selection of short stories, “Hitting into the Wind.” The workshop is sponsored by the SCSU Creative Writing Program.
