Second-half rally leads Huskers over Cubs

·

The Kimball Cubs hosted the Huskers from Holdingford last Thursday night, Feb. 11, in a Central Minnesota Conference matchup. The Cubs started out strong on the defensive end of the floor, and really had the Huskers frustrated. Kimball went into halftime, leading by a score of 21-13.

The second half started the way the first half ended, as the Cubs built their lead to 12 points. The Huskers would not quit, however, as they slowly chipped away at the lead. Kimball’s cold shooting allowed Holdingford back into the game, and with about three minutes to play, the Huskers had retaken the lead. The Huskers finished off the Cubs by a score of 45-37.

Alex Fischer led the team in scoring with 16 points. Dillon Menson paced the Cub rebounders with 12. Fischer added 10 boards. Pat Libbesmeier handed out four assists and Neil Helgeson had three steals. The Cubs’ record now stands at six wins and 11 losses on the season.
