Sen. Fischbach (R-Paynesville) will assume the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Higher Education Finance and Policy when the legislature reconvenes in January. The Senate Republican Caucus announced the decision during a Tuesday morning press conference unveiling their committee structure and rosters.

Sen. Fischbach previously served as the chair of the Higher Education Committee from 2011-2012.
?ÄúHaving served as the chair of the committee in the past, I am ready to hit the ground running on the first day of session,?Äù said Sen. Fischbach.
Sen. Fischbach was first elected to the Senate in 1996, and previously served as ranking member on the Finance committee from 2013-2016, and will also serve as the Senate President in 2017.
