Senior class officers urge everyone in Kimball to buckle up

·

As teenagers, we represent an age group with an extremely low seatbelt use rate. Students from all around Minnesota – and in Kimball – appear in the news too often, not because of SAT scores, but because of the high number of traffic deaths and injuries. Many of these deaths could be prevented if everyone would wear seatbelts. Here’s a simple lesson in physics – an unbuckled motorist is moving at the same speed as the car in which he or she is riding. When that car stops, it doesn’t mean the motorist does – in fact, that person is likely to be ejected from the vehicle. And nearly all ejected persons are killed. Graduation is upon us and we are planning to have a great night. Don’t let the festivities prevent you from being safe and smart. Buckle up. Sincerely, Brianna Libbesmeier, Naomi Kunkel, Ben Stockinger and Brandon Hurrle
