Senior driver improvement classes

A senior driver improvement program will be offered from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Miller Auto Center, 2930 2nd Street South, St. Cloud. Another program will take place from 12-4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the MN Highway Safety and Research Center, 1805 Southeast Highway 10, St. Cloud. These courses are taught by MN Highway Safety and Research Center. Driver safety, confidence and comfort are enhanced by utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field, including the latest visual scanning and steering techniques, anti-lock braking (ABS) skills, airbag information, driver distraction, road rage and new vehicle technology. The fee for the four-hour refresher course is $18. People 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for 3 years, according to Minnesota law. Seniors are required to take a four-hour refresher course every 3 years to retain the discount. For more information, please call (888) 234-1294.
