Senior driver improvement courses

Several senior driver improvement programs will be offered in St. Cloud in November. Driver improvement courses are open to the public. Registration is suggested but not required. MN Highway Driver safety, confidence and comfort are enhanced by learning the latest visual scanning and steering techniques, anti-lock braking (ABS) skills, airbag information, driver distraction, road rage, and new vehicle technology. Persons over 55 who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law. First-time participants must complete two four-hour sessions. A four-hour refresher course is required every three years. Fee for the four-hour course is $18, and for the eight-hour course, $20. An eight-hour course is offered from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 11 and 13, at US Bank, 1015 W. St. Germain, St. Cloud. Four-hour refresher courses are offered as follows. o 4:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Miller Auto Plaza, 2930 2nd St. S., St. Cloud. o 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Health Partners Central MN Clinic, 1245 15th St. N., St. Cloud. o 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at MN Highway Safety and Research Center, 1805 SE Highway 10, St. Cloud.
