Thursday, March 15, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in Eden Valley began providing home-delivered meals exclusively through its Senior Nutrition service. Although meals will not be served in the dining room at the civic center in Eden Valley, diners are welcome and encouraged to receive meals in their homes. The change is being made to respond to aging trends.
“Our communities are getting older,” explained Claudia Cederstrom, program director for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. “Many of our aging neighbors need, and some prefer, to have meals delivered right to their doorstep. It’s a wonderful service that offers older adults a well-balanced, great tasting and affordable meals to help them remain healthy. Our volunteer drivers also offer an added service by becoming a friendly visitor each day to check on them.”
The home delivery schedule will continue at 11 a.m. each weekday. New menus each month feature a range of cuisines, such as chicken chow mein, Swedish meatballs, paprika potatoes and fruit crisp. The suggested cost is $4.50 per meal. To learn more or sign up for home-delivered meals, please call Lutheran Social Service at (320) 453-4407, or (866) 974-0289.
