By Barry Strand, Coach
The seventh-grade softball team played their final game of the season in Howard Lake on the afternoon of Thursday, May 23. The team played well, but came up short with an 11-7 loss. The game was shortened to just three innings as time became a factor. “It was too bad the game had to end as it did,” commented Coach Strand. “We have started slow all season, and when the game ends that soon, we are at a disadvantage.” The Cubs were able to score all seven runs in the second and third innings to pull within four runs before the game was called. “We were definitely gaining momentum, and had we been able to play all five innings, the outcome may have been different,” said Strand. “We really made progress this season, both individually and as a team. We finished with a 1-6-1 record, but we really played better as the season progressed. We had a couple of close games that could have gone either way. Hopefully the individuals of this team will continue to work on their games and continue to improve their skills. They worked hard at playing and also understanding the game of softball,” said Strand. “It was a very fun season for me as a coach and I would like to thank the girls for their hard work, and the parents for their support at our games.”
