Tuesday April 25, the seventh-grade baseball team played host to the Eagles from Eden Valley-Watkins. We were able to complete four innings before the rain forced us to call the game. The Cubs fell by a score of 8-3. Ashton Hanan started on the mound for the Cubs and went three strong innings. He gave up 3 runs, with all of them coming on a two-out bases-loaded double by the Eagles clean-up hitter in the third inning. The Cubs were able to get one run back in the bottom of the inning with Cody Leither hitting a single, and then scoring on Hanan?Äôs double, to make the score 3-1. In the fourth inning, Carter Holtz came in to pitch with the rain starting to intensify. With the rain coming down, Carter?Äôs pitches were a little wild. We gave up five runs in the inning, but Carter did a nice job of battling through the tough conditions. In the bottom of the inning we were able to string together some hits and scored 2 runs before the game was called with the final score of 8-3.
Hitting highlights for the Cubs include: Leither 1-3 with an rbi, Hanan 1-2 with a double and rbi, Skylor Gruba 1-2, Mason Libbesmeier 1-2, Matthew Young 1-2 with an rbi.
