It was a beautiful summer afternoon for baseball, but the St. Augusta Gussies handed the Clippers an 8-0 loss that knocked Watkins out of the regional tournament. The Clippers’ season ended with a whimper.
The game got off to a slow start with no score until the sixth inning. Three runs in the sixth and another five in the eighth sealed the game for the Gussies.
The Clippers managed three hits on the game, two by Tyler Hebrink and the other by Travis Linn. But they were no match to the Gussies who brought their “A” game that included two out-of-the-park home runs by Nate Laudenbach and Adam Gwost.
Travis Laudenbach earned the win for St. Augusta, pitching the full game. Dan Berg was tagged with the loss with Dustin Kramer in relief.

This ends the 2018 season for the Watkins Clippers. The Clippers will host the Region 11C tournament the first two weekends in August. Representing the Central Valley League will be the top four teams: Luxemburg Brewers, Cold Spring Rockies, Kimball Express, and Pearl Lake Lakers. They will face the top four teams of the SVL in the regional tournament, with only the top four teams advancing to the state tournament to be played in New Prague and Shakopee.
