SJBC and Cantabile to host 15th annual Kidsing Festival
“This is THE BEST DAY! I look forward to it every year because we have so much fun!” says Kara Rysavy, YCCM Cantabile Director.
The St. John’s Boys’ Choir and YCCM Cantabile are once again joining forces to host KidSing – 15th Annual Central Minnesota -Children’s Singing Festival at Tech High School on Saturday, Jan. 20.
All students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are invited to sing alongside the SJBC and Cantabile for the day. A concert featuring all singers will end the day.
“This is a great opportunity for young singers to experience our choirs, meet our directors, and have so much fun!” said Rysavy. “There’s nothing quite like watching our guest singers learn three new songs alongside our current choristers, gain confidence throughout the day, and perform for their families after just a few hours of rehearsal.”
The festival offers a chance for singers to learn about the SJBC and Cantabile, and then have a chance to audition for the ensembles shortly after.
“The SJBC will hold auditions the week of Jan. 22. This year, we’re excited to expand our audition process; it’s really a choose-your-own-adventure,” said Matt Kiminski, Director of Marketing and Outreach. Singers can send in a video, or sign up for a 15-minute voice check at one of many sites around Central Minnesota. More details about SJBC auditions are available at sjbchoir.org/audition.
Auditions for Cantabile will be held later this spring. More details are at youthchorale.org/special/cantabile.
There is no cost to attend KidSing, and each participant receives one complimentary ticket to the concert at the end of the day. More details and registration are available at sjbchoir.org/kidsing.
