South Haven okays annual festival

·

At the May 2 regular meeting of the South Haven city council approved South Haven Days Festival to be held the last weekend in July (July 28-30). The parade and other activities will be on Saturday, with more activities being planned.

The city will work with property owner Mike Murdock on finishing the exposed wall that was left after demolition of the Municipal Liquor Store.

Kurt Helgesson reported that there were three fire and 11 rescue calls during April.

Parking along Church Street was discussed; it sometimes interferes with fire and rescue calls. New ?Äúno parking?Äù signs and areas will be designated (and enforced) for public safety.

The city?Äôs new website should be up and running this month. Residents continue to complain about Windstream telephone and internet service, but there?Äôs nothing the city can do about it.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 22, for a brainstorming meeting. The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6.
