The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council (MSRPC) is offering up to eight $1,000 scholarships to high school students graduating in 2003. Applicants must be Minnesota residents and from a family active in agriculture. The student must also be active in agriculture and in their community. Students must plan to enroll in a technical, two-, three- or four-year college to pursue an education in an agriculturally related program. “The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council has been awarding scholarships for 12 years,” said Mark Pietz, chairman of MSRPC. “We feel it’s important to encourage and reward young people who are actively involved in agriculture.” Applications must be submitted to the Minnesota Soybean office and postmarked by April 1, 2003. The MSRPC scholarship selection committee will make final decisions on awards. Only one scholarship will be awarded per person. Winners will receive the scholarship award upon successful completion of the first quarter or semester of college. Should the student decide to wait to enter college, the award will be held in a trust fund until the successful completion of the first quarter or semester. To obtain an application and application criteria, please contact the Minnesota Soybean office at (888) 896-9678 or download the information from the MSRPC Web site at www.mnsoybean.org.
