The luck o’ the Irish was with two Kimball speech students on St. Patrick’s Day as the speech team traveled to New London-Spicer. Kelsey Klein, a junior, made finals and placed sixth in Storytelling while Courtney Colwill, also a junior, placed fifth in the Creative Expression Finals. The following Monday, the Kimball speech students traveled to Rockville for the Central Minnesota Conference speech meet. Students who place in the top five in each category are “All-Conference” speakers. Kimball’s 2007 All-Conference speakers include: Ashley Kalkbrenner, sophomore, fifth place Serious Drama; Kyle Messer, sophomore, fourth place Serious Prose; and juniors Sammi Stewart-James and Kelsey Klein, who placed fourth and fifth respectively in Storytelling. Eden Valley-Watkins, coached by Bonnie Spohn-Schmaltz and Sharon Borgerding, are the 2007 Conference Champions, edging out last year’s top winners, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. The speech team travels to Annandale on Saturday, March 31, for the Sub-section meet. Students placing in the top six for each category will advance to the Section 5A Tournament hosted in New London-Spicer on April 14. Good luck, speech students. Coach Jody Markgraf
