St. Cloud VA to Offer Seasonal Flu Shots September 22 & 23

·

Visiting Nurse Agency will also offer shots to spouses/significant others

St. Cloud, MN–The St. Cloud VA Medical Center will offer a limited number of seasonal flu shots at its first Flu Shot Clinic on Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Building 96 (Recreation Building on the west side of the VA Campus, near the Veterans Golf Course).  Veterans who receive their health care through the St. Cloud VA or its Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Alexandria, Brainerd and Montevideo are eligible to be vaccinated at the clinic.

Additional Flu Shot Clinics will be announced for all locations as more vaccine becomes available.

New to the VA this year is the opportunity for spouses and significant others of veterans to get their seasonal flu shots at the clinics from the Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency.  Those shots will be given for a fee of $25. The fee may be paid in cash or billed to the individual’s health insurance. Those with insurance should bring their insurance cards to the clinic.

Seasonal flu vaccinations do not protect against the H1N1 virus.  A H1N1 vaccination was recently approved by the FDA and is scheduled to become available to specified, high-risk groups in the near future.  The VA will provide veterans with more information about this as it becomes available.
