St. John?Äôs Lutheran Church of Kimball has started a Ministry of Mercy group. This group of 40+ volunteers has a common goal to provide physical and spiritual care to the members of our church and the community. Our example and motivation is Christ?Äôs care for all people. Volunteers are available to serve in many ways. Our transportation group will provide rides to people who are unable to drive or have no means of transportation for doctor visits, to purchase groceries, etc. Our visits group will visit the lonely and alone, particularly seniors, to offer conversation and encouragement. Volunteers in the serving meals group will prepare and deliver meals to those in need due to the birth of a new child, sickness, recovery from surgery, death in the family, etc.
The card ministry will send cards upon request for any occasion, including a new baby, death of a loved one, anniversary, birthday or simply encouragement. And lastly, our helping hands group will provide light housekeeping and simple maintenance to those who are unable to do so because of age, disability, or illness.
Over the last year the Ministry of Mercy has been busy in the community already, assisting some Kimball residents with spring yard cleanup. The group has also coordinated with the Rural Stearns Faith in Action, and more recently, with Heritage House to provide volunteers as needed.
These services are available to all area residents free of charge. To utilize any of the above services, a request can be made by phone to St John?Äôs Lutheran Church at (320) 398-7151, or by email at stjohns@meltel.net.
