Kimball Elementary has a new focus on anti-bullying. Stand Up Against Bullying is a researched-based program based on the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Each month, staff and students wear an orange T-shirt and discuss important anti-bullying issues including playground behavior, cyberbullying, short- and long-term consequences of bullying, strategies to eliminate bullying in our schools, and more.
Our kickoff event was held on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and students from ?ÄúCamp O?Äù, an after-school service learning program, wrote and performed skits to remind students of the effects of bullying behavior. Paid for with a grant from Resource Training and Solutions, the year-long program will also include a magician
performing for KES students Wednesday, Jan. 13, with a program entitled ?ÄúThe Bully?Äù.
Cyberbullying and internet safety will be the focus in November when Victoria Powell, Sherburne County Assistant Attorney will speak with students during the school day. Parents and community members are invited to a public presentation at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the High School cafetorium where popcorn, bottled water, and childcare will be provided free of charge.
More information about Stand Up Against Bullying can be found on the Elementary School webpage.
