According to a recent newsletter from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the county is shifting focus and resources away from the D.A.R.E. program into other areas. The Sheriff’s Office has partnered with area schools for more than two decades in the D.A.R.E. program. Some schools in the county may continue to teach that program on their own. Others may coordinate with law enforcement to have full-time or part-time resource officers in their schools.
“The Sheriff’s Office has the opportunity to focus more on a small group of schools [St. Augusta, Pearl Lake-Marty, Greenwald, Luxemburg and Freeport] to enhance our relationship and focus a bit more on school safety,” the news-
letter reads. This decision does not affect other county D.A.R.E. programs.
