·

The Stearns County Board of Commissioners and the Stearns County Dairy Advisory Committee will celebrate Dairy Day Monday, June 21. As part of the celebration, Cliff Mitchell of KASM radio will do a live broadcast from the Stearns County Administration Center Board Room from 10-11 a.m. A press conference will follow the show. Various booths will be set up in the Administration Center rotunda throughout the day. Free ice cream, cheese and other milk products will be handed out. Numerous lawmakers, the Commissioner of Agriculture and other community and political leaders will participate in the event. June is Dairy Month, and with more than 900 operations, Stearns County is the largest dairy producing county in the state and 11th most productive in the nation. Though agriculture is the number one industry in Minnesota, its importance often goes unrecognized. Each farmer in Minnesota feeds 94 people in the United States and 34 people in other countries. The Minnesota dairy industry alone employs more than 53,000 people. The Dairy Day educational event will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, June 21, the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
