Stearns County is the largest dairy county in the state. Since June is Dairy Month, the county is holding a local celebration /educational day to recognize the importance of the dairy industry from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23. Booths will be set up in the Administration Center Rotunda in Courthouse Square throughout the day. Cliff Mitchell from KASM radio will do a live broadcast from 10-11 a.m. The Dairy Princess will be handing out ice cream and cheese products. Governor Pawlenty, the assistant agricultural commissioner, local legislators and the St. Cloud mayor have also been invited. Experts from organizations such as the Dairy Advisory Committee, the Minnesota Milk Producers, Soil and Water Conservation District, Stearns County Commissioners and the extension service will be on hand.
