At about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, while we were in the midst of blizzard conditions, a man was struck and killed while standing on the shoulder of Highway 24 in Clearwater Township.
Scott Joseph Hollencamp, 36 of Maple Lake, had been driving a Chrysler Cirrus that landed in the west ditch of Highway 24. Hollencamp had exited the vehicle to stand on the right shoulder waiting for help.
Meanwhile, Andre Deontay Clark, 34 of Kimball, was driving his 2010 Ford F-150 southbound on Highway 24 when he struck Hollencamp standing on the shoulder.
Hollencamp was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater Fire Department, and Allina Ambulance all responded to the scene. No issues other than weather were mentioned in the report, and no mention of further investigation into the fatal accident.
