Strand named Central Minn. Jr. High Coach of Year

Barry Strand, a long time coach, was named the Central Minnesota Junior High Coach of the year. Mr. Strand won this award by coaches at the other seven conference schools voting for him. Coach Strand is not only popular with our students and staff, but also has the respect of the opponents he has coached against for years. Barry coaches four junior high teams this school year. He coached seventh-grade volleyball, seventh-grade girls basketball, seventh-grade boys basketball and is finishing up the spring with seventh-grade softball. Barry has coached for more than 25 years in basketball at three different schools he has worked with.

16 years JH softball 

15 years JH boys basketball

13 years JH volleyball 

11 years JH girls basketball

3 years JH football 

Barry Strand teaches health and physical education. He is an outstanding teacher and coach so the award comes at no surprise. Mr. Strand is well liked and respected by the students he works with daily. His coaching style is to constantly praise and educate the athletes he works with. He has an amazing work ethic to coach that many games and events in a single school year. We are truly blessed to have an outstanding coach like Mr. Strand at Kimball! Congratulations on your award.
