Good Day Kimball. The weather we have been having has been incredible for this time of year. It has been nice getting things done outside before it gets too cold. Last year at this time we were eying down that big storm that dropped 18 inches of snow. The good weather has sure helped the farmers harvest the crops and open the fields up for the deer hunters.
It was great to see last week?Äôs voter turnout. It was the highest voter turnout that Kimball has ever had. The passion and commitment to the school district by the community and the community members allows the board and myself to look at goal setting and planning long term for the school district.
Over the past year and a half, there have been many challenges for the district. The biggest being getting out of statutory operating debt. Now that the district?Äôs student enrollment has gone above 700 students, it puts the district in a spot to no longer be in debt. That is a number that the board and I will have to monitor closely to make sure the district is in a spot of stability.
The cross country team gave it their best effort over the weekend. I know that they wanted to do better. We are proud of how hard they worked to get there and know that they will do everything they can in the offseason to train and get back next season. Great job girls!
The district is looking for ideas from community members on different programs that we can do for the community. One idea was to have a bingo night at the school. If you have an idea that would be community friendly, please send me or any of my administrators the idea for us to look at. We are trying to move more towards bigger involvement from all members of the community and it is difficult to come up with activities that everyone feels they can participate in. I would like to bridge the gap between our community and the schools. I am looking for ideas from any-aged member of the community who would want to try something. So give it a thought and let me know.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching. Take some time to reflect and think about things you are thankful for. Remember if you are able to help families who are in need, please consider them during this time of year. My goal is to do at least three acts of kindness without the individuals knowing where it came from. I find that it is the most enjoyable thing I do during the holidays and the best gift. With that being said, have a great weekend, and GO CUBS!
