Tactical medicine course, Sept. 10-11

·

Providing care outside of the hospital in the hostile environment of tactile law enforcement requires special judgment and skills not taught in a standard Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) curriculum. The Tactical Medicine I course is designed to fill the gap in training that is becoming more apparent as violence association with drug activity and terrorism continues to increase. The eight-hour course is designed for law enforcement personnel, first responders, and EMTs who may be assisting law enforcement. It will provide the basics of safety and prompt medical attention. Course content includes equipment selection, assessment in the tactical environment, advance airway techniques, care under fire, and basic team movements. The course will be from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, and from 8 a.m.-12 noon Saturday, Sept. 11, in the EMS Building at Ridgewater College-Willmar Campus. The cost is $125.
