Kimball trap shooter Tayler Verhey will compete at the Minnesota State High School League Clay Target State Tournament. Verhey earned this trip by virtue of finishing as one of the top 100 shooters in the state out of 10,866 participants, according to Kimball trap shooting coach Tony Verhey.
Tayler Verhey ended up tying for 41st overall in the state with an average score of 24.10, out of a possible high score of 25.
The MSHSL state tournament takes place on Friday, June 20, from the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.
Kimball Area team
The Kimball Area trap shooting team ended up finishing second in the Class 6A Conference Two regular season standings behind first-place Blaine. St. Charles finished third, Blooming Prairie fourth, Kasson-Mantorville fifth, East Grand Forks sixth, and Shakopee seventh in the conference standings.
The Kimball Area team did have a “Fun Week” event with a potluck and awards on June 1. It will compete at the Del-Tone 100 event from the Del-Tone Shooting Range in St. Cloud on Saturday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
After that, the Kimball trap shooters will compete at the Minnesota Trap Shooting Championship, scheduled for June 9-17, from the Alexandria Shooting Park, having a chance to qualify for the MSHSL state tournament as a team at this event.
