Temperatures dropped

·

Weather: It was a cool start to the week with temperatures falling into the 30s across parts of northern Minnesota Monday morning.

International Falls dropped to a cold 37 degrees Monday morning.

Most of central and west central Minnesota had a warmer start to the week with overnight low temperatures in the 50s and 60s early Monday morning. This was because of a cloudy to mostly cloudy sky which acts as a blanket and helps keep temperatures trapped and warmer overnight.

We aren?Äôt looking for a lot of moisture this week as high pressure will keep things in check for much of the week. There is a small chance of some additional light rain on Thursday.

Temperatures will be slightly below average for the week after temperatures last week were in the lower 80s for much of the week.

On another note, there was a great deal of talk over the weekend about the ?ÄúBlood Moon?Äù that took place on Sunday night. Thankfully, the sky cleared out just in time for many of you to be able to see this rare sight.

Scattered light rain moved into overnight and obstructed the view, but I saw many great pictures that some of you were able to capture Sunday evening. It was quite a sight.

Have a great rest of the week and enjoy the cooler temps.

Weather history: On this date in 1985 NWS records show that
?Äúfour inches of snow fell in Ely, with just a trace at the Twin Cities.?Äù

Weather fact: Orphan Anvil: An anvil from a ?Äúdissipated thunderstorm, below which no other clouds remain.?Äù
