Temps hover in the 40s with possible spotty rain/snow showers

·
Our warm winter has continued across the region. We had record or near-record high temperatures once again on Sunday. Parts of southern Minnesota even reached into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
A cold front then arrived late Sunday and, with the warm and fairly moist atmosphere, some scattered rumbles of thunder were heard in parts of the state. Most of the moisture fell across eastern and southern Minnesota.
With the lack of moisture this winter, the wildfire danger is a factor found across most of the state. Please be careful as this will continue to be a problem this spring unless we get some good moisture very soon.
Expect temperatures to be above-average with highs generally in the 40s for the midweek and into this weekend.
Keep thinking spring.
Weather history: On this date in 1836, it was “unusually cold at Ft. Snelling.” For 12 days, temperatures “were in the double-digits below zero!”
Weather facts: The month of March is known for its transitional weather in the Upper Midwest. This can range from snow to even tornadoes here in Minnesota.
