I hope everyone enjoyed the mild temperatures over the weekend. We had plenty of low- to mid-30s across much of the state, while southern Minnesota saw some upper 30s and lower 40s.
These temperatures were 15 to 20 degrees warmer than average for this time of the year. I have chatted with many over the past week, and quite a few said this has been a long winter. I hate to remind you, but we still have more than two months left until spring officially arrives.

Temperatures will remain above average through this weekend, but we could see some light snow or flurries at times.

Weather history: On this date in 1994, you might recall when Gov. Arne Carlson ordered “all Minnesota public schools closed due to the extreme cold and severe winter weather.” Overnight low temperatures dropped to -30 degrees F with wind chills of -50 to -60.
Weather fact: Back in 2000, a special group of experts, including those from the National Weather Service, met to evaluate the existing wind chill formula and made changes to try to improve upon the Wind Chill Index and to improve the “feels like” temperature.
