Temps to soar into 70s Saturday

·

Weather: It was a pretty mild weekend for this time of the year. Parts of the region hit the lower 60s on Sunday for daytime high temperatures. It was a mostly cloudy to cloudy day across much of the state on Sunday. If we had experienced some sunshine, temperatures would have been even warmer.

We started off the workweek on a mild but also foggy note. Temperatures were in the 40s across most of central, west central and parts of northern Minnesota early Monday
morning. Some spotty rain was also found across portions of the state on Monday. This held temperature highs on Monday into the 50s.

Canadian high pressure will be with us for Wednesday and Thursday. This will keep us dry and cool, with highs generally in the 40s and lower 50s expected.

A change will arrive by Friday as temperatures will climb into the upper 50s and low to mid 60s across the area. If you like those temperatures, you will love this weekend as the ?Äúold thermometer?Äù is expected to soar into the 70s on Saturday.

A cold front, however, is expected to push across the region Sunday. This should be the focus of some rain showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms. As we all know, April showers will help to bring those May flowers.

Enjoy the warmer temperatures this weekend.

Weather history: On this date in 1929 severe weather moved across parts of Minnesota. Records show that a tornado cut a ?Äúpath from Lake Minnetonka through North Minnesota.?Äù The tornado left six people dead.

Weather fact: Did you know that the damage paths of tornadoes can be in excess of one mile wide and over 50 miles long at times?
