The Body Strength Training Shed to open Monday

·

The Body Strength Training Shed will open Monday, Feb. 20. Owner Donita Knaus explains that the Shed is more than a gym. It?Äôs a place that focuses on the whole body, inside and outside. Massage and infrared wraps are offered. Personal trainers will be available to assist clients with training and to answer questions. There will be activities and offerings for youth as well as adults.

Donita has always been interested in training. As an athlete in high school, Donita feels one never loses that desire to maintain one?Äôs body. She owned Diva?Äôs  (salon)for 10 years and, during that time, she had a massage table at her home and a gym in her garage. When making the decision to sell Diva?Äôs, Donita knew she wanted to open a gym. She looked for just the right place for about three years. It was getting down to the wire since she had signed a purchase agreement with stylist Erin Bollman to purchase the salon. Donita had to find something quickly. It was almost by accident that she found the property, formerly the lumberyard in Kimball.

With a big vision, and a lot of help from family and friends, Donita went to work cleaning and remodeling the location at 48 Linden Ave W. The building is structurally sound with good insulation and lighting. Donita was determined to make it happen, and make it happen she did.

The Body Strength Training Shed has been transformed into a first-class gym with the newest machines designed to accommodate just about anyone?Äôs needs. She has a number of employees. Crystal Long is a personal trainer and massage therapist. Amy Ellestab is a personal trainer and class instructor. Laura Hogberg is a personal trainer, and Tina Honsey is a certified class instructor.

Kimball Tae Kwon Do will hold classes at the Shed starting Monday, Feb. 27. The classes will still go through Matt Serbus, but they will be held at the Shed.

In the future, Donita would like to bring in trainers for school kids. Since the school bond with a community training center did not pass, Donita feels her facility will be a good place for students to work out.

The fees are reasonable, starting as low as $30 a month (check with your health insurance to see if they will pay a portion).  They are open 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturdays, 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sundays 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can find them on Facebook, and link from there to their scheduling site. Or call them at (320) 398-2639.
