Central to any thriving and growing community is a healthy school system where children score high on standardized tests, graduate high school at higher rates than the rest of the state and experience a rich, rigorous and diverse curriculum that prepares them to become successful adults. Our district has demonstrated numerous successes. We feel extremely fortunate to have our three children attend school at EVW.
The safety and health of our children is of highest priority. The referendum facing us includes renovation to existing structures to enhance both student safety and physical structure. Currently, for example, entrances to the elementary schools are not visible from parent drop off accesses. When dropping our children off at school in either Watkins or Eden Valley Elementary, one cannot physically see that they have entered the building safely. Secure entrances are also necessary. Maintenance and enhancements to air handling systems, pipes, roofing, lighting, bathrooms and fire sprinklers encompass additional aspects of the referendum. These are all primary needs to maintain a healthy school environment for which our students can soar!
Everyone in the community, not just the parents of school children, should engage in the interest of our future, the children, and continue to support a safe, strong, viable school. Please join us in voting YES!
