The Spitfire Grill ready for audiences!

·

Great Northern Theatre Company (GNTC) is preparing their winter dinner theatre show and it will open Friday, Feb. 22, at the Great Blue Heron Supper Club in Cold Spring. The Spitfire Grill is a new genre for GNTC and director Vicki Myer is excited to present this tender musical.

A feisty parolee follows her dreams, based on a page from an old travel book, to a small town in Wisconsin and finds a place for herself working at Hannah’s Spitfire Grill. It is for sale but there are no takers for the only eatery in the depressed town, so newcomer Percy suggests to Hannah that she raffle it off. Entry fees are one hundred dollars and the best essay on why you want the grill wins. Soon, mail is arriving by the wheelbarrow full and things are definitely cookin’ at the Spitfire Grill.

The cast includes veterans of GNTC shows, and some newcomers. Abby Molitor plays Percy who is the newcomer to the Grill. Hannah, played by Jessica Scherer (Bingo the Musical, Lend Me a Tenor) plays Hannah, the owner of the grill. Add in some interesting folks such as Joe (Justin Walters) who has been in many GNTC shows. Jeff Rieffer once again graces our stage as Caleb, Amy Hunter, who has directed many fine shows for GNTC is Effy and Jim Leinen is ‘the Visitor’. Come see what’s cooking at the Spitfire Grill!

Shows run Friday through Sunday, Feb. 22-24, and Thursday through Sunday, Feb. 28, Mar. 1-3. Both Sunday shows are matinees. Location is the Great Blue Heron Supper Club in Cold Spring. Dinner choices include; roasted pork loin with roasted red pepper cream sauce or lemon-peppered chicken Romano with Alfredo sauce or portabella mushroom stuffed with Teriyaki stir fry (vegetarian option). Meals are accompanied by green bean almondine, red-skin mashed potato, cloverleaf dinner roll, house salad w/peppercorn ranch, and white chocolate raspberry cake.

Tickets are $40 and include the show, meal, dessert, gratuity, tax and ticketing fees.
