Theresa Cossairt says ‘goodbye’ to Kimball

·

Dewey was born Feb. 6, 1898, to Simon Peter and Celestia Cossairt. Theresa was the daughter of John Adolph and Elizabeth Cooper Adolph. She was born June 20, 1913. Dewey and Theresa met through her brother, as they were neighbors when he was farming. After dating about a year, Dewey popped the question, and they tied the knot Oct. 15, 1938. Dewey and Theresa lived on a farm north of Kimball on Highway 15 for five years. They then bought a farm south of town in 1943. The couple had three children. In 1979, they retired and moved to a home on Hazel Avenue in Kimball. In August 1986, Dewey and Theresa were Centennial Parade Grand Marshals of Kimball. In 1998, Dewey became a patient at the Annandale Care Center. At the time of his death – March 10, 1999 – Dewey was 101. Theresa continued to live at the Hazel Avenue home, where she was an avid gardener and cared for her lawn and gardens into her 90s. She recently sold her home, and moved to St. Cloud. Theresa, now 92, is the oldest member of both the Adolph and Cossairt families. Life’s memories are the most invaluable treasure that one can give, some of which were compiled by Marion (Cossairt) Thielen for the family’s history – as told to the Kimball Area   Historical Society by Theresa Cossairt Oct. 15, 2005. ********** How fitting that both the Cossairt and Adolph families, featured this week, are direct descendants of the pioneers who discovered and developed Maine Prairie, soon to be celebrating its Sesquicentennial. Keep watching for announcements about it. The legacy Theresa leaves behind is priceless!  You don’t have to wait until you’re ready to leave Kimball to let us share your family’s valuable history.
