Stearns County Sheriff?Äôs Office, along with Kimball, Watkins and South Haven fire departments, responded to a structure fire at the Kenneth Zutz home in Maine Prairie Township. An old dairy barn, used to store lumber, was destroyed by the fire, as was a silo that also caught fire. No one was injured; cause of the fire was not known at the time of publication.

State Representative Doug Stang (R-Cold Spring) was sworn into office on Tuesday, Jan. 7,
as the Minnesota House of Representatives began its 1997 session. Stang served on the House Environment and Natural Resources, Transportation and Transit, Transportation and Transit Finance, and Ways and Means Committees during the 1997-98 legislative session.

The recent visit of the Red Cross Bloodmobile proved to be very worthwhile. Since Aug. 6, 1962, this was the next to the largest collection in Kimball: – the largest was 175 units collected Feb. 2, 1984. A total of 152 units was the total for this visit.

Kimball Public Schools lowered school temperatures in accordance with the request of the State of Minnesota. Parents were asked to be conscious of this and be sure that students dressed accordingly. All activities were also discontinued for the weekends. There was no admittance to the buildings on Saturday and Sunday. The adjustment was planned through
Feb. 19-20.
