International visitors from China visited Kimball and toured Landwehr Dairy while studying the dairy industry here. They planned to establish five 1,000-cow dairies in China and to purchase 4,000 heifers as well as dairy technology while in the U.S.

20 years ago

Ernest the emu escaped from the Scott and Deanna Fischer farm in South Haven. It took a few days and several brave souls to round him up, hogtie him and haul him back to the Fischer residence.

30 years ago

The Thayer Hotel in Annandale is now on the National Registry of Historic Places. It was originally a stopping place for train crew and passengers. Since opening in May this year, the hotel has entertained more than 20,000 guests. Many have enjoyed the Victorian d?©cor. The Thayer staff is known for pampering its guests.
