NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LIVESTOCK FEEDLOT PERMIT
Notice is hereby given per Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 116, that TMS Konz Farms, has made application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or the County of Stearns for a permit to construct or expand a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.
The existing and/or proposed feedlot will be located at 18000 County Road 48, Kimball, Minnesota, on the Southeast corner of Section 9 of Maine Prairie Township in Stearns County. The existing facility consists of Holstein and beef cattle from calves to mature animals. Currently, there are 130 mature animals at approx 1,000 lbs, 200 feeders at approx 800 lbs, and 60 calves at approx 250 lbs. The total number of animal units currently is 282. These animals are housed in four different buildings all of which have cement floors. There are two barns totally confined and two of the barns have open lots attached.
The proposed facilities will consist of adding an additional 230 mature animals and 120 calves, totaling an approx additional 254 animal units. There will be an addition of one new building and restructuring of one of the current buildings. The new building will be 64?Äôx144?Äô. The other building will replace one of the buildings with an existing open lot and be 60?Äôx120?Äô. Both new buildings will have cement floors and be totally confined. There will also be an addition of a concrete slab manure storage with the dimensions of approx 64?Äô x 40?Äô. The total animal unit capacity will be 536 animal units.
This publication shall constitute as notice to each resident and each owner of real property within 5,000 feet of the perimeter of the proposed feedlot as required by Minnesota State Law.
