Transportation development meeting

·

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT), in conjunction with the St. Cloud Area Planning Organization (APO), will host a public meeting to initiate development on the Draft Mn/DOT District 3 2008-2030 Long-Range Transportation Plan. The second of four regional meetings will be held Friday, March 19, from 10 a.m.-12 noon, at the St. Cloud Conference Center located at the Mn/DOT District 3 office in St. Cloud. Interested persons are encouraged to attend and provide input to Mn/DOT staff and other local decision-makers on the long-term needs and transportation issues facing the St. Cloud Metropolitan area and central Minnesota. In addition, Mn/DOT is looking for input on the improvements needed to address those transportation issues. Mn/DOT will use the input gathered at each regional meeting to develop the plan that will guide investment decisions on the highway system for the next 25 years. Mn/DOT officials will open the meeting with a presentation on the overall plan as well as the accomplishments from the last district plan, which was completed in 2000. The presentation will also include information on the area’s changing demographics and an update of the existing transportation infrastructure. Following the presentation, officials will gather input from participants on their specific regional transportation goals and long-term needs, including infrastructure improvements. Individuals with a disability who need reasonable accommodation to participate in this event, please contact Steve Voss, District Planner, at (218) 828-2471. Hearing- or speech-impaired persons should contact the Minnesota Relay Service at (800) 627-3529 by March 12. The St. Cloud APO includes Benton, Sherburne and Stearns counties. Major highways located within the APO include Highways 10, 15, 23 and Interstate 94.
