Tuesday, Feb. 21, at about noon, the Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs office received a report of a turkey barn fire in the 61900 block of 363rd Street, Manannah Township. Meeker County Deputies, Eden Valley Fire Department, Watkins Fire Department, and Litchfield Fire Department responded. A 76 foot by 416 foot barn and a tractor were a total loss. There were approximately 8,300 young birds in the barn at the time and no birds survived the fire. The initial investigation revealed the fire started in a propane heater in the barn. No people were hurt as a result of the fire. The barn is owned by Langmo farms and a dollar loss has not been determined.
