The University of Minnesota Extension will host a “American Lamb and our Consumer” webinar at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28. February is Lamb Lovers Month. It’s an exciting time for the United States. Lamb industry sheep prices have reached record highs while per capita consumption and demand for American Lamb has grown over the past few years. Farmers, 4-H’ers, ag business professionals who work with farmers, consumers, and those interested in sheep/lamb are invited to attend.
Megan Wortman, Executive Director of the American Lamb Board (ALB), will share her expertise, insight, and optimism for American lamb in retail, foodservice, and on consumers’ plates. Please join us as Ms. Wortman and Dr. Travis Hoffman, UMN/NDSU Extension Sheep Specialist, provide a thought-provoking discussion to “excite the palate” and for our consumers to feed their adventurous side. Bring your questions for the interactive Q&A session.
“It has been an extraordinary opportunity to see the successes of our lamb research and promotion program energized.” Dr. Hoffman, says, “American lamb is on-trend, at-home chefs are embracing lamb options, and recipes are available to enhance kitchen creativity.” Recipes can be found at http://www.americanlamb.com and timely, relevant sheep producer information can be found at http://www.lambresourcecenter.com.
