WLC June 22-27 The Washington Leadership Conference is the highest camp offered by the FFA. Only the state’s top leaders are eligible to attend the event. Twelve Minnesotans will attend the camp this year, one is originally from Kimball. The conference takes place in Washington, D.C. and focuses on advanced leadership teamwork skills. Regional Conference, June 28 The Regional Leadership Conference sponsored by the State FFA Association. Kimball’s regional conference will be in Dassel-Cokato Monday, June 28. The conference is a mini-version of the major state camps and focuses mainly on building a strong officer team. Kimball officer retreat Each year the entire chapter officer team pack their bags and go camping. On the camping trip the team works on the Program of Activities (POA) to follow throughout the year. The POA splits the different activities into specific categories. Each offer has an area of responsibility. This year, the team will travel to Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls, 45 miles northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul along the St. Croix River. They will stay at the park June 28-30. This retreat helps the team to bond, and allows it to work at its very best. SLCCL, July 6-10 The State Leadership Conference for Chapter Leaders (SLCCL) is the second level camp offered by the State FFA. SLCCL is held at Deep Portage where more than 120 members from across the state gather. It builds upon what members learned in their ninth-grade year at State Greenhand Leadership Conference, and teaches members more skills and methods for leadership and teamwork. STAR/POWER, July 25-27 The three-day STAR/POWER conference focuses on building the regional officer team and preparing chapter leaders to serve in areas above their chapter level. The regional teams must design their own POA and prepare their theme during this time. The regional teams will visit several different local companies like General Mills and learn about agriculture. At the end of the conference, the teams will take a three-hour boat ride in which they will learn to cooperate and build friendships. Submitted by Chris Sheehan, Chapter Reporter
