State Representative Dean Urdahl (R-Grove City) was unanimously endorsed for a second term in the Minnesota House of Representatives by District 18B Republicans at their convention, held Saturday, March 27, in Litchfield. State Senator Steve Dille (R-Dassel) presented Urdahl’s nomination to the convention delegates. Dille cited Urdahl’s hard work and commitment over the past two years. Addressing the convention, Urdahl said it’s vital to continue working for the concerns and needs of rural Minnesota., he outlined the rural initiatives with legislation he is currently sponsoring. “The dairy study group I formed stressed the need for access to capital. One of my bills would allow Minnesota Investment Fund money to be used for dairy modernization,” said Urdahl. “Another creates a special fund to be used for low-interest loans for dairy farmers. My investment tax credit bill passed a Senate committee last week. “Eighteen million dollars for low-interest Rural Finance Authority farm loans, plus local bridge and road money are in the bonding bill as well,” he said. Urdahl stressed that more remains to be done, particularly in the area of health care costs. Urdahl, of rural Grove City, was first elected in 2002. He serves on House committees for education policy, agricultural finance, agricultural policy and capital investment (bonding). He is on long-term leave from New London-Spicer schools.
