V.F.W. serves up some friendship

·

Members of the Wat-Kim-Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars demonstrated the Gift of Friend-ship by again hosting a weekly Camp Friendship carnival and ice cream social Tuesday night. In addition to helping the campers at the carnival games and handing out prizes, they lovingly served over 250 ice cream cones to campers and staff. In case you are wondering, that’s about 10 gallons of ice cream. The V.F.W. also presented a check to Camp Friendship for $500 to cover the cost of the event and make a donation to the Friendship Venture’s scholarship fund. Friendship Ventures has been enhancing the quality of life for children, teens and adults with disabilities for almost 40 years. The services offered educate and support these individuals in achieving their highest level of self-worth, independence and participation in their community. Much of the expansion of these services can be attributed to the unconditional gift of love and concern from clubs, associations, businesses, churches, individuals and parents. Few people understand that most of Friendship Venture’s participants will never outgrow their illnesses. They are people who, through no fault of their own, will always depend on the generosity of others for their care, life-skills and happiness.
