Valley Tractor Club Plow Day

The Valley Tractor Club held their first Plow Day on Saturday, Sept. 22, on a field near Eden Valley. For those who don’t know what a “plow day” is, it is a favorite activity of tractor clubs. Vintage tractor owners get the opportunity to put their tractors to use by plowing up a field using their antique tractors. The field plowed on Saturday was approximately forty acres. Fifteen tractors showed up for the event. About the only rule was the plow could not be larger than a four-bottom. There were several two bottom and even a few three bottom plows to work up the ground along with the four bottom varieties. It didn’t matter if the tractor was red or green or another color. Everyone enjoyed their time in the field on a nice sunny day.  After a few hours of plowing, the group, along with family members and other observers, took a break for lunch and reminisced about how things used to be. It wasn’t long before the guys hit the fields again. It was obvious they were enjoying their time on their old tractors. What was hard work in its day when a farmer had to plow a field alone with one of these tractors, was fun for the farmers who plowed on Saturday. It was also fun for the spectators.
