I want to congratulate this newpaper for printing the article in the July 15 issue entitled “Support Federal Marriage Amendment.” Pastor Wirkkala did a good job. My wife and I are ordinary Christians who still cling to the old values and beliefs that the institution of marriage is what has built this great nation and has helped to sustain it as an organized and civil society. With the divorce rate nearing 60 percent over the past 10 years, it is everyone’s duty to support this marriage amendment. I always liked what the late Steve Allen said, “The entertainment industry is sending our children down the sewer of immorality.” That says it all for me. Thank you. Irving Morrissette, St. Paul
