Vernon Marschel of Annandale died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at the Cokato Manor Nursing Home. He was 83.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale. Pastor Steven K. Thorson officiated, and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale. Friends called from 4-7 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Vernon Fredrick Marschel was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Buffalo to William and Freida (Kiphuth) Marschel. He was united in marriage to Gladys Maurer June 23, 1944, in Annandale.
Vernon worked as a forklift operator for more than 30 years at Model Stone in Minneapolis; he retired in 1988. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, caping, playing cards and bingo, snowmobiling, and going to casinos.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Roy, Arnold, Ben and Delbert.
He is survived by his wife Gladys; children William (and Karen) Marschel of Annandale, Johnny Marschel of Aitkin, and Sue (and Steve) Raymond of Maple Lake; sisters Arliene Huikko of Annandale, Lillian (and Ervin) Walters of Watkins, and Joyce Nelson of Annandale; five grandchildren: Chris, Kim, Thomas, Gregory and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren: Amanda, Tahlia, J.T., Janelle, Amelia, Dylan and Alexander.
Pallbearers were Duane, David, Alan and Chris Marschel, Kenny Nelson, and Jason Hansen.
