The St. Cloud MetroVets and the St. Cloud VA Medical Center invite and encourage veterans to parti-cipate in the community Veterans Day Parade to be held on the VA campus at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009. Parade “muster” time will be 11:30.
All Veterans are welcome, but must pre-register to participate. A parade entry form may be downloaded at www.sctimes.com/section/vets, or interested veterans or groups may call Kelli Olson at (320) 255-8767 to receive an entry form by mail. The deadline for parade entries is Oct. 23.
The MetroVets, the VA, the St. Cloud Times and a number of community organizations have sponsored a parade for the past two years. Each year, the parade has grown in the number of participants. This year, organizers hope to draw 300-400 veterans and other community groups with veteran-themed entries to be part of the parade.
Following the parade, a community social will take place at Apollo High School in the Commons. All members of the community are encouraged to watch the parade and come to the Apollo Commons after the parade to thank veterans for their service. Cookies, coffee and hot chocolate will be served at no charge.
