St. James hosted a four-team varsity invitational on Saturday, Dec. 28. Kimball took to the road and brought home a third place team finish. The competition was particularly worth the long drive because the four teams involved all score within Kimball’s typical team score. Kimball gymnasts had their best year-to-date beam routines with only two falls. The low number of falls on beam and the showmanship on floor, combined with power-packed vaults gave Kimball the victory they had been working for. Scores and highlights of the meet are: Vault – Sarah Wysoski, 8.0, Alison Rosha, 7.7, Mandy Gehrke, 7.7, Mandy Libbesmeier, 7.6 and Katie Krantz, 7.2; Beam – Sarah Wysoski, 6.9, Mandy Gehrke, 6.4, Alison Rosha, 5.85, Mandy Libbesmeier, 5.7 and Katie Krantz, 5.5; Floor – Sarah Wysoski, 6.9, Alison Rosha, 6.35, Katie Krantz, 5.6, Mandy Libbesmeier, 5.0 and Chelsey Wipper, 4.8. Bar scores are not being mentioned because they were definitely not a highlight of the day. Kimball was first on bars and the team did a remarkable job putting the event behind them and went on to have some of the best routines and scores yet this year on the three other pieces of equipment. Kimball had a Junior Varsity meet against six teams hosted at Monticello on Saturday, Jan. 4. On Tuesday, Jan. 7, there was a Junior High meet at Paynesville. The next Varsity/Junior Varsity meet is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Paynesville.
