At 7:01 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident on Meeker/Stearns Street at 138th Avenue in Luxemburg Township. Kyle Donnay, 20, of Watkins was driving westbound on Meeker/Stearns Street in a 1994 Ford Taurus when he collided with a John Deere Gator All-Terrain Vehicle operated by John Bates, 88, of Watkins. Bates was crossing the street from 138th Ave. Donnay was not injured. Bates died from his injuries while en route to the hospital. The Watkins Rescue Squad, Watkins Ambulance and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted. The accident remains under investigation.
